Does anybody really make money working from home?

December 20, 2008

I have spent the last three and a half years working from home. I made good money – sure, but not the income I wanted to make. It wasn’t exactly all my fault. But I don’t regret the lessons that I have learned, in fact, I wouldn’t replace the lessons, the friendships, and the growth that I experienced for all the tea in China.

I think most people go into Relationship Marketing thinking the income will come overnight. Well… it can happen, but not to the average person. But the reason I love this business so much, is that average people CAN make above way average incomes. And better than that… ordinary people can achieve extraordinary success... but it takes time.

People today – all they say is, “I don’t have time.” This really gets me going, because just WHO is in charge of time? THEY ARE!! People that let time control them are destined to be it’s slave for eternity. Sure, we are all guilty of letting others manipulate our time because we don’t know quite how to say NO. And I know that I am guilty of getting lost in surfing the net for hours when I could be doing something productive.

Another thing folks say, “I don’t like selling.” Well – duh! Does anybody REALLY like selling? No! Show me someone who likes selling and I will show you someone who is broke. Selling is not the basis of ANY job, stay home or otherwise. It is about relationships. Period!

The best one is, “It’s a pyramid scheme.” Huh? What exactly is a pyramid scheme folks? You mean, like our government? Our school system? Our corporate structure? What is the Sam Hill is a pyramid scheme? If earning an income from home had any other rap than that of this mysterious misnomer, I would have to say that it would be the number one career choice in the world!

Get over the pyramid thing – it doesn’t sound cool, because if you continue to find reasons NOT to make a move – guess where you will end up? Yup – right where you are! And if you are HAPPY with where you are financially and with the amount of free time you have… well, then that is fine… stay put!

I have seen people’s incomes in this business go from $70 a month, to $170 a month, to $1,700 a month, to $17,000 a month, to $170,000 a MONTH working from home.

These are the people I am partnering with now. I figure – if you’re going to follow someone, you may as well follow those who achieved the kind of success you are after!

What is key when you are looking for a home business is to ask, “Is it strong enough to support your growth?” You see… it IS possible to outgrow a company. If you are a strong builder and you can build tall buildings with your efforts, it would be a good idea to make sure the foundation is not made of quicksand.

If a company claims to be debt-free, don’t throw up your hands in the air and rejoice. I recommend you investigate further by asking, “What type of capital to you have for growth?” Don’t assume debt-free is good. Debt-free could mean no investment capital available to spur things ahead when it is most needed.

If a company touts an amazing compensation plan, be sure that it pays for product sales AND for building the business. Don’t get stuck selling products day and night and never achieving that residual income! Heck, if you had to do that, you might as well opt to sell big ticket items like cars, houses, boats or pieces of the moon.

Beware of companies that say, “We are not in this for the money,” because they MEAN IT! If you are all about the rosy mission of something – great! But most people don’t start a home business to become a volunteer – or worse, a volunteer who pays to go to work. Being mission oriented is not a bad thing – but remember, being stinkin filthy rich is not a bad thing either! Look for companies that believe BOTH!

And last but not least – look for a strong sponsor. Strong does not mean having lots of experience, nor does it mean having lots of time to train you … what strong means is “Do they have a desire to earn a lot of money?” If so – great! They will understand that you are an asset and they will work WITH YOU to build an empire. But if they are just dabbling around to get product discounts…they will not lead you anywhere you want to go.

If I could share any ONE SINGLE PIECE OF INFORMATION that I think is the most crucial in picking a home business it is this… Do they care about you? I mean… the company. Do they see the representatives out in the field as the assets or do they see the products as the assets?

You see, the products should be only the commodities. The products must be good, yes, but products should not be the main focus of the company. Products are expendable. Products do not have dreams or goals… they are merely a vehicle to help representatives achieve dreams and goals.

Do your due-diligence and you WILL find a company that is right for you! It sure beats working for da-man and being told what to do, when to do it, what to wear, what to say… aye!

Wishing you all the success you seek!

Number of hungry children in US rises by 50 percent

November 28, 2008

New government figures show that almost 700,000 children went hungry in the United States at some point in 2007.

This was the headline in the Telegraph.co.uk this morning.

This past week, I flew to Fresno, CA, where I met with the President and Vice President of a network marketing company that offers amazing nutritionals, organic, fair-trade coffee and healthy soy candles.

Am I looking for another stream of income? Um… in this economy… absolutely!

But why did I fly all the way from Ohio to California to meet these men?
Because this company gives 5% off the TOP of every sale to feed hungry children living right here in the United States. As lovely as it sounded, I still needed to look into the eyes of these gentleman and see if they were sincere. I needed to meet them and hear their visions first hand. I wanted to know if such beautiful humanity really existed in the world. To my delight – they were amazing and sincere and dynamic!

Now, there are thousands of network marketing companies out there, and for the most part, each of them has above average products, a fair compensation plan, and an opportunity at incredible wealth. But for a company to give off the top… I mean, actually give 5% before the expenses are paid, salaries are taken, and representatives compensated… wow! This is beyond impressive.

I was not as impressed with their goal to be a multi-billion dollar company, but rather WHY they want to be a  multi-billion dollar company. Plain and simple, they want to give one million a month to the children, while creating a lot of wealthy independent representatives in the process.

There is a lot of hype out there surrounding this industry along with some bad stigma. And the truth is that only a small percentage of people actually hit it big in network marketing… the million dollar earners.  What creates this 1% of wealth is a combination of a lot of factors: industry experience, deep pockets, circles of influence, etc. But in all these cases, the 1% worked their butts off out in the field and didn’t let anyone else tell them what they could or couldn’t achieve and they never gave up.

What the statistics fail to mention is the hundreds of thousands of people out there that may not be the top 1% – but are actually earning a significant part-time income. In fact, a lot more than any job would ever pay them for such a little amount of time and effort.  Millions of people are supplementing their incomes with $500 – $5,000 a month in the industry of network marketing while working from home.

And sure – the turnover is high. I personally believe this is because people come in chasing the dream of overnight riches. Many companies are to blame for selling this “dream” of wealth. But in my experience I have found that no matter how many times I say to someone, “This is not a get rich quick scheme,” they are oblivious to my honesty and go after the gold – skipping over the benefits of winning the silver and bronze. And nine times out of ten, they are just a couple feet from getting their hands on the bronze medal when they toss in the towel because they think the gold is out of reach.

This is one of the tragedies of the industry. Ironically, when they quit at this point – the others who are riding it out, benefit from those earnings. Their quitting just gave those 1% more income.  Those 1% who did nothing more than STICK TO IT. In fact, I tell people that there is only one way to fail in network marketing – and that is to quit. And I am learning through my own experience that this is not just my philosophy, but an absolute fact of this business.

Listen, I could go on and on… but this is about the children who are right here – right now who are going hungry… in our own country!

I am offering you an opportunity to join me in this new company. I am offering you an opportunity to come into a near ground-floor company that has a multi-billion dollar objective, a plan to make a difference in our world, a compensation plan that literally pays like none other I have seen, and for me – most importantly – a solid foundation on which to build.

I want to feed these kids – but I can’t do it without you! If you don’t see the potential of earning your own income with this, please consider buying some of these amazing products.

Commercial Paper: Robbing Peter to Pay Paul

October 8, 2008

Buying paper. If you are like me, your first reaction was to visualize crates full of reams of paper. Then you shake your head and think, no – that doesn’t make sense. So then  you think perhaps they are buying a newspaper. Nah – that doesn’t make sense. Then you visualize money… it is, after all, paper to some degree – and aha – yes, this makes sense. It ties in with banking and economics – so it makes sense. But does it? If it is money, why are they calling it paper? Why not just call it money?

Truthfully, money is not money anymore – it is merely paper. And this plan to buy commercial paper is one of the sneakiest, back-handed, cover-up schemes, wrapped up in a package with a pretty little bow that I have ever witnessed in my “awake” state of being.  Are you awake? If not, you need to wake up – and fast. This is a call to action, folks! It is time to come out of your slumber and begin truly SEEING what is happening with our financial sytem.  And yes, it is scary as hell… but not nearly as scary as what is coming our way.

Have you ever had the misfortune of cashing your checks at one of those “quick cash” places? If so – you know that it seems friendly on the outside and even friendly on the inside. How convenient that if you are short on funds, you can go borrow $500 until payday!! And the fee is fairly reasonable. BUT… read the very fine print and you will learn that if you don’t pay it back within the time allotted, they can take your first born child.

But sometimes, it may be necessary to do this. Times when you are broke and let’s say your car broke down and you need it towed or fixed right away so you can continue going to work and earning money. Although, what typically happens is you do this and you become caught in a web. Before you know it, you have to borrow for the next week, and the next week and the next week – and little by little you cannot get your bearings. It is worse than living paycheck to paycheck – now you are living loan to loan.

There are thousands of companies out there that were hit by the collapse and they cannot pay their bills. The banks are not giving out any loans because they are in over their heads and are put on hold to only SAFE borrowing practices. Loaning money to a business that can’t make their payroll, pay their utilities or appease their suppliers is a RISK they are not willing to take. And why can’t these companies pay their bills?  Because THEIR customers aren’t able to pay THEM. Until the economy bounces back – no money is being exchanged. The solution?  Print more money… aka “paper.”

So just like the struggling consumer who runs into a quick cash establishment to borrow until their paycheck comes in, the companies are runing to the fed and getting the “paper” they need to stay operational until their customers can pay them.

Sounds fine, doesn’t it?  But remember what happens when you rob Peter to pay Paul… you will owe Peter. So let’s say you owe Paul $500 – but you don’t have it because Phil hasn’t paid you. So you go to Peter and borrow the $500 to pay Paul. Now Paul gets paid – and he has money to spend. He will most likely spend it in a way that benefits Phil, who in turn can pay you back the $500 he owes you.

Then Phil comes in and pays you the $500 and its all even, right? Wrong!  Because remember, you BORROWED the paper from Peter – and it came with a price… interest. Now you have to pay back Peter WITH INTEREST. And worse, what is the penalty for late repayment? Taking your business? Taking your first born?  Where does this money to cover the interest come from? Hmm… don’t have it. So guess what? Now you are going to have to borrow MORE money from Peter to cover the interest… that you owe to Peter in the first place!

Thus the cycle of living loan to loan is born. But this time it is the small-medium sized business that are caught. Those hard working individuals with the American dream – flushed down the toilet in a heartbeat.

This gets worse because there are severe consequences to putting this much “paper” into circulation. And thus far, no one has explained it better than my favorite quasi-journalist/health guru, Mike Adams. I highly recommend that you read this post, “Is the Federal Reserve Engaged in Acts of Economic Warfare Against America?”

If you read my post, “So, what’s another $700 trillion?” you will see that I said it there, and I will say it again… history is simply repeating, and the sickening part is no one seems any wiser to it.

How much longer will you slumber?

miessence Business Opportunity Pros and Cons

October 8, 2008

Dear Candy,

A friend has recently introduced me to a line of product that you represent OneGroup.  I am very interested in the organic marketplace now and any information that you can pass along – both positive and negative, would be greatly appreciated.

My Reply:

First, I have been with ONEgroup (miessence) for over three years now. I can give you lots of positive and lots of negative… so bad news first or good news? :-)

The truth is that this is a phenomenal company that is basically a mom and pop shop operation. Narelle, our Co-Founder actually started in her kitchen making products. To date, it is still just her, her husband Colin, and Alf Orpen at the helm. They are extraordinary visionaries and truly want to set a standard far above any other company out there. And not just for the products, but for the whole operation. It is a visison that was once deemed “impossible” that has come to life. It is really exciting and truthfully, the most rewarding thing I have ever done. It is like being a philanthropist with a paycheck! haha

We are in fact MLM. We call it Multi-Channel, because unlike traditional MLM, we allow Reps at Manager level and above to sell retail (stores both online and offline).  This model has been sculpted to include our Baby and Mother range only, which gives incredible stability to the direct sales platform, while allowing reps to also reach into the 99% of the market who buy retail direct. We are also launching a Fundraising Platform soon, while we already have in place the online platform, a MiSpa (home party) platform, and many other ways you can build the business.

Here’s what I know:

I am approached weekly by at least 1-2 other companies that sell “natural” or amazing miracle products. They have invited me to their conferences when I wasn’t even on board, they have offered me frontline positions and guaranteed leads, they have pushed and sold me from every angle… and though I may have made my millions with them a lot faster than I am making them with ONEgroup – I have never waivered.

And here is why:

I have yet to find another company that is as genuine, and as socially, ethically and environmentally responsible as ONEgroup. I have yet to find a company that is privately owned and plans on staying that way to safeguard quality – regardless of any lucrative offer on the table. And I have yet to find a company that is willing to bypass giant chunks of profits in such an expensive industy as certified organics, just to keep prices competitive and so their reps can achieve financial success.

So the only “con” that I can give you is this:

If you aren’t “all about the paycheck” and believe that companies should “walk the talk”… and if you believe that integrity should come before profits… and if you believe that educating consumers to make informed decisions is an integral part of the sales process…  and if you are patient and understanding that changes come slowly in a company which refuses to go into debt during the process of growth… then you are in trouble… because you will never be able to find another company out there to compete with your heart.

Consumers Need to Take Some Responsibility

October 7, 2008

I received this email today and thought I would share:

Dear Candy,

I went to Whole Foods today and found the G Diaper inserts and purchased them to line my cloth diapers b/c AJ Is getting bad burns from the cloth diapers.  I was thinking that if I had the liners to place in his diapers they may be better at keeping the urine from turning to that strong ammonia smell and burning him.

The G diapers have an ingredient called “sodium polyacrylate” in them.  The package claims it was tested by some agency and that it got a green seal for level of danger for human contact?? I decided to do my own research on this ingredient and found this great site I thought that you might like.  Now I do not know what to do???  This ingredient does not seem to be favorable or safe from the statistics they supplied.

I do have to say the Barrier balm with the Ambrosia serum cleared up AJs soars almost completely over night!  AMAZING!  IT looked so bad yesterday; I have never seen any other product even calendula cream work so fast.   I think I will just have to change him more and continue to use the balm as often as possible.

Check it out and let me know your thoughts!

http://tinyurl.com/3gba2f

Okay, so here we have a loving, wonderful mother who is trying to do everything in her power to keep her son away from harmful chemicals and look what happens.  Since I never had a baby, this whole diaper thing is new to me – but I must say, this was very enlightening. (Almost as enlightening as my experience last night with finding Miguel).

Gee, who would have thought that the substance inside those disposable diapers was toxic? Of course, I never really gave it much thought. But now that I have… I am not surprised. I don’t know exactly what I thought was in there… actually I do, I thought it was just layers of cotton. Who would have thought it was gel that if eaten in even the smallest quantities would kill a child?

Ruh-Roh, I feel a rant coming on ~

Good grief! What are these companies thinking?

No, I take that back. I am not going to blame the companies this time. Yes, they can bear some of this responsibility, but it is YOU – you people out there - who want CONVENIENCE and AFFORDABILITY above all else, that force consumer spending habits and put companies in a position to accommodate your wishes.

Look, the government is no longer “for” and “by” the people – but COMPANIES ARE! Your spending matters! Spending one dollar to buy a product is just about as important as casting a ballot on election day. If you don’t think that your personal purchasing choices don’t dictate global consequences, you are sadly mistaken.

Everytime you cuddle up to a company brand for pricing or convenience, regardless of social or environmental implications, you are DRIVING THE BEAST. Everyone is up in arms about the environment, but most people out there are still supporting companies that trash the planet.  I am not saying that you have to start wiping your arse with Sunday’s funny page, but I am saying that you need to consider WHO you are giving your hard earned dollars to.

And don’t take it LIGHTLY that companies are putting toxic chemicals in their products – GET LOUD! Blog about it, write the company, tell your friends, support and enforce corporate responsibility. Only we can. As long as you are out there not caring, they are profiting and continuing to manufacture these toxic products. And don’t think that someone out there is protecting you, because they are not. These companies are SELF-REGULATING… no government oversight, no FDA… no nuttin.

I watched a a movie once where these automakers knew that a certain automobile was unstable and could cause fatal crashes. So what did they do? They called in their number crunchers to see which would cost more money… paying the death damages out in lawsuits, or pulling the cars in for mandatory recalls. I imagine they do the same thing with everything out there. The only problem is with skin care and cosmetics and products that cause damage OVER TIME… these results come in and they cannot be proven until millions of people have died. (How many years did the tobacco industry get away with it before the studies could no longer be tossed aside as “hogwash?”  Will you really let this go on that long?)

For instance… research is showing that parabens are being found in the breast tissues of cancer patients. How odd, right? Well, who gets the blame? They are putting parabens in your shampoo, your body lotion, your conditioner, your moisturizers and the culprit in my mind is deodorants… but it is in EVERYTHING. No one can get the finger pointed at them – and worst of all, they can sit here and let people debate it for years and years. How many more women and men needlessly die of breast cancer every year while they stall whether this is the cause?

How much money do you donate to Breast Cancer foundations?  (More than you think with every company out there supporting it in one form or another) How many years has this been going on? How many millions, if not billions, of dollars do they continually receive for breast cancer research? And yet… as soon as there is a finger pointed to a synthetic component of products on today’s market that could potentially be a major contributor to breast cancer PREVENTION… notice I didn’t say “cure”… it is dismissed. Does this make sense to you??  You would think they would pull this ingredient immediately just to be safe. But instead – they spend millions in retaliation of supporting the ingredient’s safety.

Is it safe? We may not know for decades. These chemicals keep popping up every year. Hundreds upon hundreds of new synthetics are entering our products and foods annually, and no one knows for sure the long term effects on humans or the environment. This is based around corporate greed… and the greed is driven by consumers who choose not to be informed. Who choose to “assume” that companies would never put profits before people’s lives.

Think about this…  how many years now have we seen the label on a child’s toothpaste or shampoo (or anything that we douse them or ourselves with) and read on the back “Harmful if swallowed,” followed by directions to contact the local Poison Control Center? Yet we look right past it!! Why is that? Do we think that we actually have to brush our teeth or wash our hair with toxic chemicals?  Why would we think such nonsense?

Did you know that THE NUMBER ONE KILLER DISEASE OF CHILDREN TODAY IS CANCER?? Cancer!!!

Here’s another factoid for ya… did you know that fluoride is more toxic than lead and just slightly less toxic than arsenic?  Did you know that there is enough fluoride in a tube of toothpaste to kill a small child? So while you are sending your child to bed after brushing his or her teeth with a highly toxic substance, you turn on the nightly news and curse China for making toys with lead – vowing to boycott them!

Think about it.

Please friends, wake up! Take back control of your purchasing. Stop being smitten by pretty bottles, glamorous fake women in advertisements on television and magazines with lustrous locks, men with golden tans, brand name popularity and the other ridiculous reasons we purchase. Wake up and realize that ONLY YOU can control what you buy.

If you want corporations to take responsibility for the products they produce - it must start with you taking responsibility for the products you purchase.

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

P.S. – Many thanks to “Sara Bear” for letting me post her email on here. She rocks! Not completely trusting the label’s safety claim - and taking just a few minutes to research it online -  will lead her to make an INFORMED DECISION about a product.

Now that’s what I’m talkin’ bout! :-)

Save Miguel?

October 6, 2008

Okay, so this video confounded me to no end. Me, the environmentalist, didn’t know about Miguel! I had to find out what this Miguel thing was. At first, I thought it was a joke.  But thanks to Google – and my insanity to know wtf Miguel was, I can sleep tonight.

An Engineer’s Guide to Cats

October 5, 2008

I really envy people with this much time on their hands.
